As I said that I would do, I've made a new layout: Tables Layout #22: Ominous Threat. I've rusted a bit, so I don't like this one quite as much as I like "Silent Reverie." I still like the color scheme, though. I've been a big fan of dark brown lately. =)

I have a new Tables Layout. It's my 21st, called "Silent Reverie." It has this vintage look, and I love the color scheme. I was trying out some new things, so this is sort of a combination of my older styles and some new techniques. I hope you like it!



I've also cleaned out my Affiliates page. Many of the sites were dead, so I removed them. I also fixed the Coding Tutorials page. I'm considering to add more.

I've also added several new Avatars, many of which are Lord of the Rings. I also added a new Gothic section for the avatars.

I've also added new link back buttons that match the current layout, so feel free to take a look at them and use them.

New layout for this site! I had been using the previous one for a while, and I decided to try something new for the new year. This one is different in that it has two separate navbars on either side, there's a smaller content part, and I took out the tools pages, such as the Hexadecimal pages and the Scrollbar Generator. I really like pretty much everything about it, except for some of the colors, which are a bit icky. But it's too late to change that - I might want to change it next month, or whenever I get the time.

I feel much more refreshed with this new layout, because things are so much neater. I went through almost all of my pages and cleaned them up. For months, this site had been in need of some major sprucing. The coding on some of the pages had errors, pages weren't uniform, and the general look of a lot of pages was a bit primitive.

A few of the changes I made include -

I have added in the Request page after deciding that I will now accept requests. Please read the note on the Request page there. The gist of it is: I'll accept them if I think you're being patient and mature enough, your request is reasonable, and if I have the time at the moment. I will accept requests for any graphics, including layouts.

I'm not done sprucing up the site yet, though. I have a lot more to do, such as -


And of course, hopefully I'll have more layouts to post up. I don't know about the likelihood of that, though, seeing as how I have so much else to do first.

And, as a little note here: The Tutorials pages are in major need of editing. When I uploaded the new layout, it changed some of the PHP format for the Tutorials pages, and as a result, many of the examples on the tutorials pages aren't working. I'll put fixing that as my first priority once I get the time to work on this site. But just don't be concerned and confused about the tutorials' examples not functioning correctly. =)

I don't have any new layouts to post up, but I just wanted to post this note of thanks for those who helped this site reach 4000 hits! =) I appreciate it. Also, I might have some new layouts coming in a few days or so. I might also update the Wallpapers section and perhaps the Banners section. It depends on how much time I have. I also have the Tutorials pages to update and edit. I'll get to doing that in a little while.

New layout! It's called Attunement. I'm heading into a winter break from school, so I'll have a lot more time to do layouts now. I'll have more up in a few more days until the end of the month. =)

I'm happy to say that I have another layout (Tables Layout #15) to present to you. =) My style is still dark, but instead of gothic-ish, it's now shifted a bit to oil on canvas paintings. The layout "Remant", for example, is an example; it's based on a picture from a French artist centuries ago, called Woman with a Pearl. Hope you like it.

Sorry for the delay in updates. =) I'd just like to note here for all those who don't know this yet that I'm still open to accepting layout requests. I'd also be glad to help people with their layouts, if they need a little aid in designing or coding. =) I need to add a Request form, once I get the time to make one.

I have one free layout coming up, by the way, but I still have to finish coding it. It'll be up soon.

And also, I'd like to add thanks to all those who still visit this site in spite of my lack of updates and site additions. =)

They've gotten so long since I've been accumulating many layouts, and are pretty hard to navigate, not to mention that the page download time has been lengthened. I'll probably separate them to pages.

I've done one more graphic, which might turn into a layout since I don't really know what else to do with it. I'm sorry for my lack of updates and new graphics for the site - hopefully I can pick up the pace soon, even though I think it's highly unlikely.

Anyway, I'd like to mention that I'm grateful for those who still visit the site often inspite of the lack of new things. =)

I've finished one person's layout request, and now I'm moving on to another request. I've decided to reopen layout requests for the time being - with the exception of neopets layouts. I'm not going to add the request form to the NavBar since this is most likely going to be only a temporary thing, but I just decided to note that here. =)

School has started, so I have a lot less time to work on this site. I have so many plans of what to do and complete for this site, but so little time to implement them. I'm sorry for the mess the site is in currently. I've listed below things I have plans for -
  • Finish editing the layout for my numerous tutorials.
  • Adding additional miscellaneous graphics, such as 404 pages, Hiatus pages, and Welcome/Enter signs.
  • Adding even more layouts. They're so fun to do. =)
  • Skinning this site. This is the major plan that will take a long time to do, I'm expecting. I don't expect to do this until months later, once I get the time.
  • Editing the FTP tutorials - there are image mistakes there, and I have to edit them. But, of course, I can't squeeze in the time.
  • Adding an additional Graphics directory page to organize everything, since there are so many subsections of graphics.
  • Adding a lot more tutorials - such as -
    • Random images
    • Random links
    • Random text
    • Alerts
    • Cursor Effects
    • HTML Forms
  • Adding a "Random Affiliate" section to the NavBar. I've planned this for months and I never got it done!


So, as you see, I have a lot to do. But I've completed two Div Layouts. One of them is a Cold Mountain one; the other is another Phantom of the Opera.

I'm in the middle of making a new layout for the Tutorials pages. I'm in the middle of doing them, so please look over the messy multicolored look. I'm working on it. =)

With .htaccess supported, I now have a 404 page and will have image protection as well. =D I also have plans for more Coding Tutorials.

New host! This is the fifth time Drifting Designs has changed hosts. Exasperated? I'm sorry. As you may know, I left T35.com because of their pop-up ads and their unstable server. Visitors couldn't access my pages during T35.com's rush hours, so I absolutely needed a new host. Skye at skyefairy.net kindly agreed to host Drifting Designs, thankfully. =D This, I hope, is a permanent move (isn't this what I said the last time I changed hosts? =D). I lasted at T35.com for only a couple months before hauling out of there.

But anyway, Drifting Designs has a new host, so the new URL is d-designs.skyefairy.net. Please update your bookmarks by clicking here.

With this change of hosts, I can now use MySQL and have .htaccess pages, so it may be possible that Drifting Designs will have a few skins. I just have to make the skins and figure out some filepaths. =D

That being said, I have two new layouts, and five new affiliates. The two layouts are shown below. Remember to check out the three layouts from the previous post!

Recently, I've found out and have been told that Drifting Designs is having probably hours of downtime, probably daily, mostly around morning-noontime [Pacific Time]. This is beyond my control, since the problem lies in T35.com's servers, which apparently are quite unstable. I apologize for all those who haven't been able to access the site during those hours. I wish that I could do something about it, but I don't know how or what.

What I know that I can do is - yes - get a new host. Some of you probably know that this will be - what, the millionth? - time Drifting Designs has changed hosts. As I've always said each time, I'm sorry for the inconsistency and inconvenience. Most of the time, though, changing hosts isn't what even I want to do - I have no choice: the host dies, the server is bad, etc. For this time, again, I might not have another choice in moving to a new host.

I'm not saying that I will change hosts - it's just an idea that I will most likely follow. I've found some decent hosts to sign up at, so we'll have to wait and see. Again, I'm so sorry for the inconsistency, and if I could make it different, I would. It's awful, really, because I've been hosted by T35.com for probably only a month, and have liked it a lot. But the (daily?) downtime is something I absolutely cannot put up with and have my visitors undergo, and the pop-ups are starting to get to me. =) So, just to let you know, I might be moving to a new host, and I'm sorry for all the trouble and the downtime.

That being said, I have a couple more Affiliates, in addition to the ten I posted up yesterday. All in all, that's twelve new affiliates.

And to top it off, I have a lot more layouts planned. I'll have a new batch up, hopefully soon, and hopefully good. =)

Welcome back to d-designs.t35.com! I've moved Drifting Designs to a better host - one that supports FTP and PHP, as well as greater flexibility in general. The fallout is that there are pop-up advertisements every now and then, but it's an inconveniency I'm willing to put up with in exchange for the many advantages of my new host. I'm sorry for the inconsistency in moving Drifting Designs for the third time - hopefully, this move will be permanent. As you see, the layout is changed just a bit - the headers are now images. I hope you all like the change. Some pages are revamped a bit, but other than that, everything is all the same. The navbar is altered a bit too, for the better. The new URL for Drifting Designs is now "d-designs.t35.com." If you are affiliated with Drifting Designs, please change the URL accordingly. Thank you!

Hello! I know, I haven't updated for over two months, but this will probably be my final note for this site.

Well, I'm officially off to another graphics site [heard of Shiva? *wink wink*], as I've been "upgraded" to a high rank there [well, just slightly.. ha ha.] My point is, I need to dedicate more time to helping the Shiva newbies get adjusted. [1070 members, whooot.^^]

Ha ha. I'm starting to ramble. But you get my drift. I've been on hiatus on this site over two months, so I just thought that I'll finalize this.

These two years with "blue skies", "five-leaf clover", "black midnight", "a silent mourning dove", "tempestuous love", "midnight drifter", "nightly drifting", and "Drifting Designs" have been great, full of up and downs, spins and turns, but nonetheless meaningful. Not to mention the super staff members I've had: Roxie, superb CSS writer and blinkie maker, who moved to Belgium; Ammie, writer and website layout-maker, who decided to get a better grip with reality; Claris, my super friend who collaborated on the final and present site, and eventually became webmistress.
Rox and Ammie! If you're still reading this, I miss you guys beaucoup!!! ---> and Claris! Ha ha! I'll still see you at school. ^^ !

Well, that's my last note here. I'm off to Shiva!

Just dropping by to announce that the site might be undergoing a small change as I make room for new kinds of graphics while taking out the Brushes section (which is currently down). And also, by the way, though I am (currently) not accepting graphics and coding requests, I am open up the coding questions and the like. Another reminder: please do not steal my source code. Look at it if you want, but please don't copy and paste things from it to your own site. It has happened before, believe me, and it currently still is happening.

I've considered adding freebie midis on DD for your own sites. That's just a small idea that I might carry out in the summer, but there's no guarantee. If anyone has any suggestions on what I should add to the site, I'd really welcome them through the Contact page. =D

I'm sorry for the lack of updates lately, but my interest in graphics and webdesigning has waned (hopefully only temporarily?). I've decided to stop taking requests for now. The reason? Well, I've been busy, and I've lost some interest in graphics, as I've already stated. I'm also not sure if the people using my graphics are really using it and are going by the terms. I might start taking requests later on, probably in the summer.

For now, however, I plan to turn Drifting Designs into a site where graphics can be found and used, but not requested. If you really do want me to do a requests, then e-mail me, and I'll see what I can do for you. =D

Sorry for the inconvenience. And here's more news: yes, I'm moving Drifting Designs back to Freewebs as a host, due to the demise of my previous host. I'm sorry for the inconsistency; this time, it wasn't my choice at all.

I've updated the statistics. I've received 5 requests this week; four have already been completed. For once I am caught up. =)

I've edited the Previous Requests page, splitting it into three pages, each with twenty recorded requests. Hopefully that will make viewing easier and page-downloading time shorter.

I also have a new affiliate, called Forgotten Whispers, an LotR site that is very worthy of looking through. It's very organized and has lots of content!



Expect more graphics soon! I have plans for more avatars, neopets full page layouts, banners, enter signs, and hiatus signs.

Welcome back to Drifting Designs! The site is now hosted by Liza at Forced Emotions. I'm sorry for the lack of stability and consistency, but I thought that getting a new host was imperative. Freewebs was messing up my pages, adding toolbars to some pages, and throwing in alerts that read things like "Click YES to view this page now!" I also wanted more space for bandwidth and in general, a more professional look. As you can see, the layout is unchanged (I plan to change it soon, but definitely not now). The Navigation Bar has changed slightly; I've taken out the Brushes because they were hosted on a bad host that is now dead I believe. I have, however, added a Link Back section, where all the Link Back buttons to DD are. I also plan to add a lot of graphics, some of which I have already uploaded. Anyway, a reminder to affiliates: please change the url to DD to "http://www.d-designs.forcedemotions.com". As you all can see, the url is no longer "driftingdesigns", although the site name still is. Anyway, hope you all adjust to the new host! Please tell me if you catch any 404 pages, broken links, etc. Thanks!

Hello! I haven't been here for a while, sadly. But I'd like to tell you (even before I e-mail Claris) that I'm permanently moving to Shiva, at the request of the headmaster. (You've probably never heard of Shiva before, but that's because it's an alias for another larger site. And no, you can't find it on Google. ^^ )

So what does that mean? That means that although I'll still working on this site (adding some random graphics, etc), I won't be regularly circumsizing the site. But that's okay -- most of the requests are Lord of the Rings, anyway -- so don't worry about it, I'm sure that Claris can handle it. ^^

Great news! The two photobucket accounts that had been down are now up and working again. All our Neopets Shop Signs are available once more, as well as 48 Final Fantasy and Pride and Prejudice Avatars. Our Wallpapers have returned as well. =D

The Photobucket account crash scenario is a disaster. We've lost all of our Neopets shop signs (there were only four or five of them), a statement banner, about four wallpapers, and some fifty very nice avatars. Not good. There is a slim chance that they can be recovered but I'm not really counting on that.

To make up for the loss, I've added about 44 new Avatars, most of them Love Hina, but some are of nature, Lord of the Rings, and miscellanous. The Wallpapers page is fixed, although nothing has been added. I have added 6 new Textures. Enjoy!

I've also completed a banner request. See the Recent page. Three more requests left to go: 1 layout, 1 logo, and 1 coding request. They should not take long to do.

I am also proud to announce that DD has a new Affiliate, called Only in Dreams. It is a pretty new website with spectacular graphics! Please do me a favor by visiting DD's newest affiliate. =)

About our malfunctioning Photobucket account, it's still down, but I've mangaged to recover some graphics. The Neopets Miscellanous page is now back up and running, and the Posters page is too! Plus, I've added an additional five posters, all of them LotR. I've also added 11 new link back buttons for you to use for your own site, found on the Graphics Miscellanous page, as well as 7 new Avatars. Enjoy!

Oh, and one request has been completed.

As more requests are being completed, more are being received. The last time I counted, we have 24 requests this week. I know that I am quite behind, but the weekend is coming up, and I plan to complete loads of requests during then.

Note: I've decided to count coding requests as an independent request in the Statistics. I'm doing this because coding often takes as long (sometimes longer) to do than an image.

I've been boggled down with layouts these days, but nevermind - they're quite fun, actually. ^^ Anyway, due to the amount of excessive requests (we've had eighteen this week alone!), the completed requests are not coded. You can re-apply for coding, however; coding only takes a day or two. ^^

Oh nooo, suddenly we received sixteen requests at the first day of the week. Most of them are layouts, which take the longest to do. Not that I'm complaining at the burst of requests. :P I just want to alert everyone that their requests may be delayed in completing due to all of this. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Another thing I want to let you all know is that I'm in the middle of revising the layout of the tutorials to a new one independent of the current layout of DD. This way, I won't have to change the layout of the tutorials everytime I change the layout of the main page. But because the tutorial pages aren't linked to a single CSS page, I have to go to all 60-plus pages and change them by hand. So don't be alarmed if you find some pages with the old layout and some with the new one.

Ah, the new week has started with a torrent of requests. Fortunately, they're not all too difficult. ^^

    New month, new layout! Well, almost new month; it'll be May in a couple of days. Anyway, I present to you Layout 11: Beyond Time. The main banner, which depicts a character from Final Fantasy 8, was done by TTN, and everything else, such as the tables, background images, footer, and CSS was done by me. In fact, Layout 11 is the same as Layout 10 except for the background, banner, and the footer. [TTN's note: Well.. it's basically a change of color.]

    More importantly, the Navigation Bar has been revamped. It now has links to new freebie graphics such as -

    • MS Paint
      MS Paint graphics for you to use, all done by TTN.
    • Posters
      Free posters, all of which are 600px by 300px.
    • Textures
      Some not-so-impressive textures that I posted up, even though they don't compare to textures I've seen done by other people. =)
    • Transparencies
      PNG Transparencies of Final Fantasy done by TTN.
    • Neopets Miscellanous
      This includes statements and 404 signs.
    • Brushes
      Photoshop 7 Brushes free for download.


    We also have Miscellanous Graphics, which includes Backgrounds, Link-Back Buttons, and Statements.

    That's a lot of new graphics! I hope you like them. =)

    Quick update: Three more requests have been received, and so I'm very behind in requests. But the weekend is coming, so I'll get them done soon. We have now 12 requests this week. By the way, there are about five more Coding Tutorials. That totals up to 37 coding tutorials so far. I hope they help!

    Three requests have been completed! Two more requests have been received. That adds up to eight requests this week, and it's only Tuesday! =) I have three more requests pending: one of Narnia, one of Seabiscuit, and one of LotR.

    The three completed are a Daniel Radcliffe one, a Narnian one, and a LotR one. Plus there are two completed ones from two days ago, both of which are LotR.

    Plus we have a new layout to post up and a lot of new freebie graphics, as we keep mentioning. The new layout will come out on the weekend, along with the new graphics. =)

    This week is starting to speed up. =) We have five requests this week so far, and it's still the beginning of the week. I might be getting them done rather slowly, thanks to three consecutive days of testing, but they will get done. By the way, transparencies (PNGs) are expected to come soon. Most of them are Final Fantasy-related.

    Another update. I just wanted to clarify something about the site that two people commented on today (woah, what a bizarre coincidence). Their question was, "who exactly runs the site?" .

    The answer is, well, none of us really "own" the site. However, I did so last year, when I was single-handedly running this; however after Claris joined in October 2005, it has grown to two, obviously. ^^ We both share the responsibilities: Claris does most of the updates, uploading, and tutorials [and basically everything with coding], and I do most of the other graphics [like banners, posters, backgrounds], mostly what visitors call "the goodies" or "freebies".

    Otherwise, I want to let you know that Paint - yes MS Paint tutorials and graphics are coming soon! Expect them sometime next week, when the new layout is up. ^^

    And like I say - "Stay tuned!"

    Short update: Another request has been completed. This one is an avatar, and you can see the preview on the Recent Page. (It's of Legolas in LotR). Also, I never mentioned it, but we have more affilate link-back buttons, which look the same except for different colorings.

    Plus we have a new affiliate, which is also a graphics site! It's called Tempted by Bliss.

    My first message on the changed Drifting Designs site. ^^ In case you haven't met me before [online], I'm TTN, or touch_the_night. I'm the original webmistress of this site, but nowadays some responsibility has shifted to Claris (whose updates are below this post).

    Anyway, there's nothing extraordinary about my update, but I would like to announce that there is going to be quite a few updates this coming Thursday.
  • More banners.
    • Mostly Final Fantasy VIII and FFX/X-2, but a few random ones. You can download them as .ZIP files.
  • More avatars!
    • Again, these mostly are Final Fantasy, but instead of being Final Fantasy VIII, you can expect Final Fantasy X and X-2 avatars.
  • More wallpapers.
    • Two new wallpapers to use. This time, instead of being LOTR or anime, it's -yep you guessed- Final Fantasy X/X-2 (I don't know why, but I seem to have a huge liking towards the game ^^).
  • Avatar-page Revamping.
    • The avatar page is going to have a minor makeover so that you can see more random avatars (i.e. 150x150 ones).
  • Other updates
    • A little unclear, but you'll see that not all the wallpapers will be Final Fantasy, not all the banners will be FF8, etc. So you can expect something different.

    Another request has been received, and another has been completed (see the Recent page). I apologize for the malfunctioning of the Banners page; it has been fixed. More banners and more categories will be added soon. =)

    By the way, I am proud to say that Drifting Designs has a new affiliate, Fantasy Worlds. It's a site with a forum that revolves around a variety of fantasy themes, mostly Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Visit it!

    Several things to mention. First of all, more avatars have been posted up, and I think the total count should be around 180 avatars by now. Three more categories (Charmed, X-Men, and Claidi Journals) have been added. Another request has been completed; see the Recent page for that. Also, we have another request which brings the total requests number since April 7 up to 13 requests. Also, I have revamped the Contact page so that there is now an e-mail form.

    About e-mail forms, I'm sorry, but there was an error on the Request form, and I didn't even know it until today. But I fixed it, and now it works fine. =)

    I am proud to announce that I have added a Table Layout, which depicts Hogwarts from Harry Potter. And yet another layout, one that took me over forty minutes to code, is a Div Layout. This one is of Sam from the Lord of the Rings.

    Speaking about Sam, I added a banner of him to the Banners page.

    That's a lot of updates! I also want to alert people that Spring Break for me has ended so I won't be able to complete requests as quickly as I have done in the past few days. But, of course, requests are still more than welcome. =) Have a Happy Easter.

    I've done several more avatars and one tables layout. I haven't yet uploaded them yet, but the avatars are of Charmed and the Claidi Journals, and the tables layout is one of Harry Potter, Hogwarts to be specific. Two banners have been completed, one of Legolas and one of Gimli, from the Lord of the Rings. I'll try to add more tommorow, although I don't think I'll have the time. Happy Easter, by the way. =)

    Two more requests have been received; that bumps the number of requests this week to 12. How nice. In addition, we now have a new affiliate, which happens to also be a graphics site, although it focuses on graphics challenges rather than requests like Drifting Designs does. Anyway, it's called Iridescent Skies. Another request has been completed (see the Recent page for that), and a new banner and some avatars have been added to our supply.

    About fifty avatars have been added; the total avatar count is about 150. There are many different avatar categories now. Most of them are anime, even though I'm not an anime fan. I'll try to add more avatars later on, especially non-anime ones, like LotR and Lost, etc. One request titled "Angel" has been completed; see the Recent Page to view it.

Oh, and we also have an affiliate, The Dwarven Lords, a well-established site that revolves around Lord of the Rings material. Another recent affiliate is the Realms of Fantasy forum, which covers fantasy in general. As they are the first two affiliates for Drifting Designs, I'd be glad if you'd visit them.

    Welcome to Drifting Designs after a loooong hiatus. It's been two months! Sorry for the delay, but we were very busy with things. But anyway. The site has now reopened, and we've got several new features! For one thing, we have a revamped Claim section, and we have new Avatars and Wallpapers for claim, as well as tutorials on Website Coding and Graphics. Hope you all like the additions; we spent quite a while on them, and that's partly why it took us so long to get this site back up and running.

    12/31/05 Updates:

      Two more requests have been finished!! One is of Chobits; the other is of Avril Lavigne. AP codes have been sent, and the Recent page has been updated. In addition, the Kikyo 2 and Kikyo 3 posters have been claimed.

    Tomorrow, the Michelle Branch poster will be back up for claim if it has not been taken yet by the person who wanted it first.

    Index: This section is mainly the homepage, or the updates page. In short, the page that you are browsing right now.
    Request: This section contains a email-form where you may request graphics or images. You will need to read the "Terms" section first, however, as this page contains a section where you must put the required text. This prevents spam, but more importantly also ensures that you understand our Terms and Conditions. NEW! Thanks to Claris, you can now fill out a form intead, making the entire form much easier. Drop by and give her a big thanks, would you?
    Terms: This short section contains the needed text to access the request section. It contains basically the "rules" that you must follow.
    Claim: The newest introduction to the site. This section serves as a place where the general public can "claim" banners that they like.
    FAQ: Or, in other words, the "frequently asked questions" section. Contains basic site information, i.e. "What are AP codes?"
    Webmistresses: This section contains information basically about me and Claris.
    Archive: An archive, or storage, of all the updates, versions, and so forth. Most moved information can be found here.

    Many of you have probably noticed that the new site has a lack of "Christmasy" design. My apologies again. In the beginning, I assumed that my completed poster would have something to do with pine trees, as in this or this, but I scraped the entire plan when I realized that my ideals were impossible, as there was a lack of simplicity.Unfortunately this layout is more pink than green or red, but I suppose the image is fine. For those of you who missed it previously: my big thanks to Neko, who supplied the beautiful image.
